Official 'GameON' Rule Handbook
1. Overview
Sixes Cricket is a fast-paced, short-format version of cricket designed for entertainment, participation, and high scoring. Matches are completed quickly and emphasise aggressive batting, athletic fielding, and creativity.
2. Teams

Each team consists of 6 players

A minimum of 5 players is required to start a match

All players must bowl (excluding WK) and may be required to bat
3. Match Format

Each innings consists of 5 overs
-
Each over contains 6 legal deliveries
-
Matches consist of one innings per team
-
The team scoring the most runs wins
-
If scores are tied, a bowl off will take place (see point 12)
4. Batting Rules

All players can bat
-
A batter remains at the crease until:

They are dismissed or the innings ends
-

Once a batter is out, they take no further part in batting
-
Batter retires at 20 and can come in again at the end of the order if required.
5. Dismissals
All standard cricket dismissals apply:

Bowled

Run Out

Stumped

Hit Wicket

LBW

An innings ends when: All batters are dismissed, or the allotted overs are completed
6. Bowling Rules

Each player must bowl (excluding WK)

Overs are bowled from alternating ends

Wides and no-balls are re-bowled
-
Bowlers bowl from no further than 6 yards from crease (marker will be in place)
7. No-Balls & Wides

Overstepping the crease - FREE HIT next ball

Above waist height

Penalty:

1 run plus the ball is re-bowled

Any delivery outside the batter’s reasonable reach

8. Fielding Rules

All 6 players must be on the field at all times

Fielders can not be positioned directly in front on the 10 point scoring zone until the bowler has bowled

No other fielding restrictions
9. Scoring

Runs are scored as in standard cricket

Boundary scoring:
-
4 runs if the ball reaches the boundary after bouncing
-
6 runs if the ball clears the boundary on the full
-
10 runs if ball is hit through through the bonus scoring zones

Overthrows count as runs
10. League Position Outcomes
-
Positioning will be based on total number of points gained (3points for a win, 0point for a loss)

Bonus point for scoring 50 or more runs, or for bowling a team out

If teams are level on points the following will decide placings

Run Rate (overall runs divided by balls faced)

Number of wickets taken
-
Number of sixes hit
-
Number of 10 point scoring zones hit
11. Equipment
-
Batters must wear a helmet at all times
-
Wicketkeeper must wear a helmet if standing up to the stumps
12. Super Over (Tie-Breaker)

Each team selects 3 bowlers
-
Each bowler has a chance to hit the stumps
-
Team who hits the stumps the most times, wins
-
If tied after 3 bowlers, sudden death bowl off
13. Code of Conduct
-
Respect umpires, opponents, and teammates
-
No aggressive behaviour or dissent
-
Umpire’s decision is final
-
Teams breaching conduct may face penalty runs or forfeiture
14. Spirit of the Game
Sixes Cricket is played in the spirit of enjoyment, inclusivity, and sportsmanship. Players are encouraged to play hard, fair, and with respect.
